We had a full house last week at our first Rotary meeting of 2016! President Elect Bruce Samuelson took the lead at the meeting and even enlisted the help of Past President Jon Ahlberg for a couple jokes and a very beautiful poem.
Next up, Rick Thielen gave us a brief auction update. We are less than a month away from our 32nd Annual Charity Auction and the final preparations are being made. We will be collecting gift cards for the "Games of Chance" and bottles of wine for the "Wine Pull" at the next meeting. There will be a separate table at the Carranor just for these items, so please remember to bring in your gift cards and wine.
January 19th is the deadline for Auction Sponsorships, Live and Silent Auction Items, and Cash Donations. If you are looking to donate or sponsor the auction, the forms can be found here. Please contact Rick Thielen if you have any questions or need additional information regarding donations.

Nelson Shaffer was our Fine Master and Greeter at our meeting. Nelson gave a us brief vocational and information regarding his career at Citizens National Bank in Toledo. After his vocational he quizzed the group about Hot Wheels and Evel Knievel, he even provided us with props! I think it is safe to say we all learned a little more about both subjects.
Our guest speaker for the week was Todd Robinson and Hannah Bor from WSOS Community Action Commission. Todd and Hannah are currently working to launch the Volunteer Driver Program in Wood County. The program is designed to help those who are in need of transportation to life sustaining appointment, such as dialysis. If you have questions regarding the program or wish to volunteer your time, please contact Todd at tmrobinson@wsos.org.
As we concluded the meeting, we were reminded that our speaker for this week's meeting (January 15th) will be NFL Line Judge Gary Arthur. Gary is sure to draw a crowd, so be sure to get your seat early. Until then, stay warm while braving this Ohio weather!
See you at Rotary!
