Perrysburg Rotary e-Bulletin for October 12, 2017

We had a fantastic presentation on Friday, October 6th from Savannah Hineline, Executive Director/CEO of Covered International.  Savannah gave us a powerful presentation on how Covered International is working to empower woman who have been affected by domestic violence and human trafficking.  Their mission is to educate and support the women by providing Safe House/Transitional Residential Programs, Outreach/Mentoring, and Employment Opportunities!
Heather Gallant has been proposed for membership by Dick Sipp and approved by the Board of Directors.  Ms. Gallant is the Executive Director at The 557 Foundation and her proposed classification will be Non-profit.  Barring an objection in writing from a member submitted to the club secretary by Friday, October 20th, Ms. Gallant will be inducted into membership upon payment of dues and attendance at a new member orientation session.

Thomas Knier has been proposed for membership by Kevin Rantanen and approved by the Board of Directors.  Mr. Knier's proposed classification will be Community Volunteer.  Barring an objection in writing from a member submitted to the club secretary by Friday, October 20th, Mr. Knier will be inducted into membership upon payment of dues and attendance at a new member orientation session.

In September, Rotarian Nelson Shaffer decided to transfer his membership to the Toledo Rotary.   Be sure to wish him well and thank you for his many years of service!!

Service Opportunity

You’ve heard Les Domini, Chair of our Community Service Avenue of Service, and President Chet has talked about this volunteer opportunity.  Perrysburg Rotarians are partnering with the Wood County Committee on Aging to deliver home-cooked meals to seniors in Perrysburg who are homebound. (If you are thinking “meals on wheels,” you are correct, except this program is through the Wood County Committee on Aging.)  No cooking required!

All you need to do is stop by the Perrysburg Senior Center at 11:15am on the fourth Thursday of the month and pick up the prepared meals, drive to your 10-14 designated homes, knock on the door, and hand the meal (with a smile) to the homebound senior!

Advance arrangements and completion of the attached Volunteer Profile are necessary.

To learn more or to ask questions about this project, please contact Susan Nelson or Les Domini.
