We had a fantastic meeting at Rotary this past week. The meeting started out by welcoming and inducting our two newest members. It is a great honor to welcome Sherina Ohanian and Dr. Daniel Ratnasamy. Sherina is a long time resident of Perrysburg and former President of the Perrysburg Elementary Parents' Association. She is also a current member of the Perrysburg Bicentennial Executive Committee.
Dr. Ratnasamy is Retired Pediatrician and a long time Rotarian, transferring from the Fargo-Moorhead AM Rotary Club. Daniel and his wife recently moved to the area to be closer to his son, a practicing physician in Findlay, Ohio.
Our fine master for this past week was the biggest Cleveland Browns fan we know. Bob Venzel gave us a great vocational and a brief background on how he and his wife Jackie eventually started
Venzel Communications in 1987. In addition to his vocational, he talked about their three beautiful daughters (Ashley, Stacey and Bridgette) and he revealed his secret talent of drumming.
To conclude our program for the week, we welcomed fellow Rotarian John Hill as our guest speaker. John is a Vermillion Rotarian who made it a personal mission to help provide clean water to the children of Haiti. Several years ago, John had the privilege of traveling to Haiti and was touched by the people and their need for clean water. He started to research and reach out to other organizations and companies to help find a solution for those in Haiti who struggle to find clean water. The result was a bio-sand water filter mechanism that allows for clean water to be filtered from the several layers of sand and gravel. This simple and effective technique is being adapted throughout the world and is making a tremendous impact!
Just a little reminder, we will not be having a weekly meeting on Friday, March 25th. Have a safe and happy Easter Holiday.
On Monday, March 28th from 5pm - 7pm we will be gathering at
Poco Piatti for Rotary After Hours. This wonderful fellowship event is a great way to connect with Rotarians outside of our traditional meeting and it also counts as a make up!!
