We are flying through January here at Rotary. It's hard to believe that we are already more than half way through the month and two weeks away from our 32nd Annual Charity Auction. As you have already guessed, we are in crunch time and the final details, preparations, and reservations are flowing in. The Auction Committee has been hard at work gathering the items, wine, gift cards and information. This FRIDAY (January 22nd) will be the final day to submit auction items, sponsorships, and donations! If you are still looking for ways to help out, below is a list of ideas.
- Make a Reservation to attend the Auction! The auction registration form can be found here.
- Become an Auction Sponsor! An Auction Sponsor can choose from three different options (Red Ribbon, Gold Ribbon or White Ribbon). Each option includes a section in the auction program (section size depends on the the level of sponsorship); recognition in press releases, social media and website and on Auction night. The Auction Sponsorship form can be found here.
- Donate an Auction Item for the Silent or Live Auction! If you are considering an in-kind donation of a silent auction item, please contact Tami Wise (Restaruant/Gourmet Items), Susan Nelson (Kids/Home), Sarah Bucher (Sports/Entertainment), or Ellie McManus (Women/Home). If you are interested in donating an in-kind donation for the live auction, please contact Rick Thielen. For a direct link to the item donation form, click here.
- Sell or Buy your Auction Raffle Tickets! If you have questions regarding your tickets or how to pay for them, contact Cindy Russeau.
- Make a Donation! If you are unable to attend the auction but still want to contribute, please consider a donation. A monetary donation can be made online, by mail, or in person at our weekly meeting.
- Bring a Bottle of Wine for the Wine Pull to the next weekly meeting!
- Bring gift cards for the Games of Chance to the next weekly meeting!
As always, if you have any questions on how to help out with our Annual Auction or need additional information, please contact Rick Thielen.
In true Rotary fashion, we had a packed house and a busy schedule at our last weekly meeting. We kicked off our meeting with Steve Shives as our Fine Master for the week. Steve is the Executive Director of the Fort Meigs YMCA and a true Football Fan. After Steve's vocational, he gave a wonderful quiz on NFL Football, which was the perfect into for our weekly guest speaker.
This past week, Gary Arthur was kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to speak to the club. Before our program officially started, Gary had provided us with a video of the Broncos-Ravens game that took place on September 13, 2015. During this game, shortly into the first quarter, Gary suffered a severe hit on the sidelines. Gary was gracious enough to give us a play by play of the event that left him with several broken ribs, a broken collard bone and a collapsed lung. The hit made headlines and the uncertainty of Gary returning during his 19th season as a career NFL Referee was unknown. However, after a couple months of recuperating, Gary was able to return to the sidelines around mid-November. Gary's next referee assignment will either be the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii or a NFL Play-off Game, so be sure to keep an eye out for him on the sidelines.
As we near the end of the month, it is important to remind you that Rotary After Hours at Poco Piatti will be coming up on Monday, January 25th. After a brief hiatus in December, we are all eager to gather together for a few appetizers and drinks. Until then, we look forward to seeing you at our next meeting where our guest speaker will be Dwight Osterud.
