President Bruce Samuelson kicked off our first official meeting of the year on Friday, July 8th. Our first order of business was to do a brief recap of the Perrysburg Rotary Bicentennial Parade, which was held on July 2nd. A special thank you goes out to all those who volunteered their time and energy preparing our epic Rotary Float and assisting in the days activities. We especially want to send out our gratitude to Bob and Jackie Venzel for planning and hosting such a wonderful event. The parade was a year in the making and Bob and Jackie did a fabulous job! After our parade update, President Samuelson had the distinct honor of inducting our first new member of the new Rotary Year. Sarah Schoesler is an Accountant with Plante Moran and a proud Perrysburg Resident. Please be sure to stop by and welcome Sarah to the club!
Our guest speaker for the week was Colonel Craig Baker, Commander of the 180th Fighter Wing, Ohio Air National Guard. Colonel Baker gave us a wonderful presentation on his current position at the Ohio Air National Guard, how the 180th Fighter Wing is protecting the skies in our area, and a brief update on the upcoming Toledo Air Show. We were incredibly honored to have Colonel Baker join us for lunch and wish him the best on his upcoming promotion!
Please be sure to join us tomorrow for our guest speaker Keith Tuttle from the Chicago Shriners Hospital.
Dale Barnard has been proposed for membership by John Pohlman and approved by the Board of Directors. Mr. Barnard’s proposed classification will be Furniture/Office Retail. Barring an objection in writing from a member submitted to the club secretary by Friday, July 22th, Mr. Barnard will be inducted into membership upon payment of dues and attendance at a new member orientation session.
