Meet the Polio Piggy

On Friday, July 7th, we welcomed special guests District Governor Deb Cheney and Assistant District Governor Dave Dennis.  Together, Deb and Dave gifted our club our very own Polio Piggy!  This little guy will be on the move this year.  President Chet Welch will be asking Rotarians to take turns with the Piggy Bank, filling him up, and bringing him back to the weekly meeting.  The change will then be collected and sent in to Polio Plus Fund.

Important Note About the July 21st Meeting

On Friday, July 21st, we will be hosting our weekly meeting at Grace United Methodist Church in Perrysburg.  District Governor Deb Cheney will be our guest speaker and she will be talking to us about her goals for the current Rotary year.  As part of our meeting we are asking all members and guests to consider bringing a donation for the Perrysburg Christians United Food Bank.  Below is a list of items the PCU is currently in need of:

  • Canned pears, pineapple, and mandarin oranges
  • Boxed Dinners (Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper, Betty Crocker Complete Meals)
  • Cereal
  • Toothpaste

Working to Build a Better Community

Last year the Wood County Department of Job and Family Services, Children's Services Unit, requested a grant to assist in the building of a new playground at their offices.  The playground would be used to help children and their families engage during supervised visits at the office.  On Tuesday they officially open the playground for use by their clients and had the opportunity to showcase this space on The Morning Show in Bowling Green.
