Weekly Meeting Recap for September 9, 2022

Last Friday we had the great pleasure of welcoming Melissa Gregg from The Miracle League of Northwest Ohio as our guest speaker!

In 2006 The Miracle League of Northwest Ohio was established and a custom designed baseball field was created in Northwood, Ohio.

Just a short drive from Perrysburg, several athletes gather twice a year to to play ball and WIN.  "In the Miracle League, each player bats once each inning. The players are always safe on the bases. Every player scores a run before the inning is over. (The last batter of the inning gets a home run.) Every team wins."

In May 2023, our members will be called to action to serve as Baseball Buddies.  Baseball Buddies will assist the players with throwing, catching, hitting, and moving around the field.  This is a wonderful opportunity for all to enjoy at the ballpark!!

Look for more information on how you can join us for an afternoon of fun in 2023!

Perrysburg Rotary Weekly Meeting for September 23, 2022
Join us Friday, September 23rd , as we welcome Ohio Supreme Court Justice Pat Fischer as our guest speaker.

Justice Fischer was elected to the Ohio Supreme Court in 2016.  Justice Fischer has dedicated himself to the practice of law for over 30 years. An honors graduate of Harvard Law School and Harvard College, he has been named to Best Lawyers in America®, one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Ohio and was routinely named to Ohio Super Lawyers®.  Justice Fischer was elected by his peers to serve as President of the Ohio State Bar Association from 2012-2013. He also was elected to serve as President of the Cincinnati Bar Association for 2006-2007.

Having represented both plaintiffs and defendants while an attorney, Justice Fischer knows the importance of being able to listen to all sides on an issue. Knowing and understanding the law as he does, Justice Fischer is keenly aware of how important it is that the law be applied properly to the facts in each case. The late Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas Moyer, even named Justice Fischer to co-chair a task force which has made the Ohio judicial system more efficient and just. He served on the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission, and was vice chair of its committee on the judicial branch.

A respected member of the legal community, Justice Fischer served on the Ohio State Bar Association’s Board of Governors, chaired its Budget Committee, and served and still serves on many other Ohio State Bar Association and related committees and task forces.

Justice Fischer also has always had a deep and abiding interest in ethics and professionalism matters. He served two terms on the Ohio Supreme Court's Commission on Professionalism, including serving as its vice chair. He chaired the Cincinnati Bar Association's Ethics and Professional Responsibility, and its Professionalism committees.

In his free time, Justice Fischer has been a dedicated public servant who has served on numerous local boards [his license plate even reads: “2 Serv U”] including the Hamilton County Mental Health & Recovery Services Board, Visions Community Services Board, and was a founding member of the Cincinnati Children’s Museum Board. Justice Fischer and his wife Jane live in Pleasant Ridge where he served as President of the Pleasant Ridge Community Council. He is an active member of St. Xavier Catholic Church in downtown Cincinnati, serving as both a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. (Source)
