I think it is safe to say, we had an AMAZING week at Rotary! We kicked off our Friday meeting with the first Rotary on the Road meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg. We were quick to get down to business and had the honor of inducting new member, Pastor Tim Philabaum. Tim is the Senior Pastor at Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg and a former Rotarian!
Dave Wise stepped up and stepped in as our weekly Fine Master. Dave decided to focus on summer camp and even graced us with a camp song. After Dave’s song, we went table to table and sang a few of our favorite camp songs.
Staying on the camp theme, we welcomed our guest speakers from Camp Courageous and the Arc of Northwest Ohio. Camp Courageous and the Arc had been selected as the beneficiary of the “Gifts from the Heart” event during our annual auction. Executive Director Tonya Scherf joined us and gave an excellent presentation on the history of Camp Courageous, their many fun activities, and how they are able to carry out their mission in the most cost effective way possible.
The night of the auction was a truly exciting and unforgettable night for all of us. The hall was set up beautifully and the food and fellowship was superb. With almost 150 silent and live auction items, Games of Chance, a Raffle, and a Wine Pull, there was something for everyone! We welcomed a family from Camp Courageous and The Arc and they definitely stole the show with a little walk down the cat walk! It was the perfect evening to gather together and show the community how important it is to be a gift to the world!
