Australia Anyone? Call for Group Study Exchange (GSE) Applications

Although The Rotary Foundation no longer provides direct financial support for the Group Study Exchange (GSE) program, our R. I. District 6600 and R. I. District 9820 have agreed to jointly fund a Group Study Exchange during the 2013-14 Rotary Year. District 9820 is located in the far southeastern corner of Australia.

A GSE Team from District 6600 will visit District 9820 during the month of March 2014. The return visit from District 9820 is scheduled for April 26 through May 25, 2014.

The District 6600 GSE Committee is now seeking applications for one GSE Team Leader and four GSE Team Members. District Rotarians with proven leadership ability and international travel experience are encouraged to apply for the Team Leader position.

The remaining four GSE Team members must be non-Rotarians between the ages of 25 and 40 who have been employed for at least two years in a recognized profession. They must either live or work in District 6600, and must be free to travel abroad during the month of March 2014. They can be neither spouses nor linear descendants of a Rotarian.

Round-trip airfare to Australia for the outbound GSE Team Leader and four Team Members will be supplied by District 6600. In order to obtain reasonable prices for plane tickets, the District 6600 GSE Team must be identified as early as possible. For that reason, it is hoped that the GSE Team can be chosen before mid-September 2013. The GSE Committee will accept Team Leader applications until August 15, 2013. Team member applications will be accepted until September 1, 2013.

Rotarians in District 6600 are requested to identify candidates for these positions, and especially to encourage eligible young professionals to apply.

Application forms can be requested by contacting District GSE Chair Ron Stoner by phone (419-276-1839) or email (stonerron@gmail.com).
