Meeting News 3.27.15

You'll read below about our support of the END POLIO NOW Campaign in our article on recent grant awards. I want to offer a big thanks to Rotary Club of Perrysburg for the support it has given to End Polio Now. Nigeria has not had a reported case of polio since July 2014. The continent of Africa has been polio free since August of 2014. Afghanistan has had only one case of polio this year. Pakistan, which has been a problem for Rotary to reach some locations, has had 20 new cases so far this year, but that is down 25% year-over-year from 2014. We have a lot to be proud of with regard to the lives we are saving globally. So far, District 6600 has provided enough funds to vaccinate almost 500,000 children! This does not include the funds that we are sending from our auction proceeds. A big thanks for what all of you do. We never may meet the people whose lives we have affected, but rest assured they are grateful for our help in preventing this dreadful disease.
Come join us on Friday to hear Perrysburg High School graduate Ken Leslie give a presentation on 1 Matters and Tent City. The mission of Tent City is to leverage the entire community’s compassion and deliver it to those on the streets and in the shelters. Started in 1990, our annual Tent City brings the entire community together to provide solutions, 1 at a time. 1 Matters provides medical and dental care, food, clothing, the return to housing, and other services to those in need, 1 at a time. Each person truly connects with another, with new opportunities and perspectives, to create mutual accomplishment.
Also - please note - there will NOT be a meeting on Friday, April 3 due to the Good Friday observance. If we don't see you this week, I hope you find all the eggs you hide for your kids or grandkids!
