Meeting News September 4, 2014
A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. —John Maxwell
Each Rotary year a new District Governor is elected to lead over 3,000 Rotarians in District 6600. The geography is wide: Hicksville in the west and Avon Lake in the east. Toledo in the north and as far south as Marion. And despite the expansive geography, each Governor personally visits all 62 clubs in the region, sometimes attending multiple Rotary events in one day. The District Governor role is an intense, important role and we are so grateful for those who serve.
This Friday the 2014-2015 District Governor, Rex Engle (Oberlin), will be speaking at our meeting. If you attended Charter Night in June you had the opportunity to hear from Rex as he inducted President Ahlberg and the rest of the officers. During his talk on Friday he will be sharing his vision for our District and some of the key initiatives happening right now.
We always have much to be proud of when the District Governor comes round. We are a generous and active club who sets high goals and achieves them! Please give Rex a warm welcome on Friday.
Finally, please remember that Harrison Rally Day and the 5K River Run are just a few weeks away. All events happen on September 20/21 and we will need your help riding on the float, staffing our booth and volunteering at the River Run. This is our weekend of service so plan now to give a few hours of time to Rotary that weekend!
Fun Fact: Perrysburg Rotary has had two District Governors since our founding in 1979- John Kurfess (95-96) and Steve Day (04-05).
