Join us Friday, November 8th, as we welcome guest speaker, Zach Migura, Executive Director and Service Officer of the Wood County Ohio Veterans Service Commission

"Zach Migura grew up in Katy, Texas, and graduated from Katy High School in 2000. After high school he worked on an offshore oil rig and was attending Houston Community College when 9/11 happened. He enlisted in the Regular Army serving from 2002 – 2004 as a Carpentry/ Masonry Specialist and deployed to Iraq in 2003. He became an Army Reservist in 2006 and deployed to Afghanistan (2013 -2014). He retired in 2024 after over 22 years of service at the rank of Sergeant First Class, (E-7), as an Army Reserve Career Counselor with the 10th Battalion Army Reserve Careers Group. His wife, Chelsea, deployed to Iraq in 2005 and retired as a Major in the Air Force Reserves in 2021 after 20 years of service. They have two children and love spending time with them in the outdoors of Ohio and beyond. Zach received a Bachelor of Public Affairs and a Master of Public Affairs from The University of Texas at Dallas. While pursuing the master’s, he earned a graduate certificate in Nonprofit Management. 

As a County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO), Zach is a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs accredited representative- VA OGC #32333. He holds VA accreditations with the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, Ohio Department of Veterans Services, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. His CVSO journey began as a VA Work-Study (intern) in 2011 for the Dallas County, Texas, Veterans Service Office. He became a Dallas County employee as a Senior Secretary at the Dallas office in 2012. He joined the Collin County team as a CVSO from 2012 – 2017. He returned to the Dallas office as the Director and CVSO from 2017 – 2019. While being a Texas CVSO, he was elected twice by the state CVSO association to serve as the President and then appointed to be the association’s Legislative Chair after his time as President.  

He and his family moved to Ohio to be closer to his wife’s family in 2019, and he had the opportunity to continue serving veterans as he joined the team of the Hancock County, Ohio, Veterans Service Commission as a CVSO. In October of 2020, he became the Executive Director and CVSO of the Wood County, Ohio, Veterans Service Commission. He served as Education Chair of the Ohio State Association of County Veterans Service Officers (OSACVSO) from 2022 – 2023. Since 2019, he has been a trainer with the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO) where he has had the honored privilege to teach and interact with hundreds of CVSOs from around the nation. He has served as NACVSO’s Director of Education since 2022 and in 2023 he was elected to a two-year term to serve as an Executive Board Member of NACVSO." (Source)
