September is Rotary’s Basic Education and Literacy Month, and this week’s program brings that focus right here to our own community.
Read for Literacy works to increase literacy skills throughout Wood, Lucas, Defiance, Henry, and Fulton Counties, providing programs and services that help adults, children, and families gain the skills they need for literacy success.
From Adult Basic Education and English Language Learner programs to initiatives like Creating Young Readers, Creating Family Readers, Real Men READ-y, and Claire’s Day, Read for Literacy is working to improve literacy one story at a time. Through volunteer tutors and reader friends, the organization helps strengthen reading, writing, and conversational skills throughout Northwest Ohio.
Diana will share more about Read for Literacy’s mission, the needs facing our region, and the many ways literacy can open doors and change lives.
