Meeting News 10.10.14

Good morning, Rotarians -

 

We'll get the chance to enjoy Jeff Studer, the Animal Control Officer from the Perrysburg Police Division today as our speaker.  The Police Division has the responsibility of responding to citizen complaints involving dogs, cats, and other animals as well the enforcement of city and state laws pertaining to the regulation of animals. The Animal Control Section is responsible for the majority of these complaints.  Think of Jeff as something like Perrysburg's own Jack Hanna!  

 

In other news, it's been twenty-five years since Rotary admitted women.  You might have seen this week that Rotary Day in Washington, DC included honoring 10 female Rotarians for their leadership and service.  Rotary’s Women of Action changed their communities and the world – from providing health services in Africa and Central America to training the unemployed for higher-paying jobs in their economically struggling community.  Click here to see that story on rotary.org.  Rotary is stronger because of the different perspectives and different voices in our midst.  The full inclusion of women as Rotarians is taken for granted in the United States but let's not take it for granted here.  As you consider membership, think, too, about proposing members whose views and voices are different than our own.
