Meeting News June 6, 2014

By now all of us have hopefully recovered from a week and weekend of heavy lifting at the Rotary Community Sale. The final numbers are still being tallied but by all accounts, this was a record year for Rotarian engagement. So many people participated from providing items for the bake sale, donating items, pricing items and of course hauling stuff and then hauling it again. What an incredible act of teamwork!

While the profit is important, the sale continues to be an act of service to our community as well as a great way to get our name out to the public. Check out this comment posted on Facebook about the sale:

“Just bought a couch, all wood desk and two end tables for $20. You guys are awesome!”

Our speaker this week is Bob Pence, a retired FBI agent who worked under J. Edgar Hoover. Our best guess is that he has some pretty interesting stories to share.

As we wrap up this Rotary year and head in to summer, there is still a lot happening in the club. Be sure to read the rest of the bulletin to register for Charter Night, sign up for the Growing 2 Give service day, register for the MESA Bike Ride, attend the District 6600 Installation or golf at the annual Golf Outing. There are so many ways to be engaged in Rotary…don’t miss out!
