Tutors Needed!

Since 2010, Perrysburg Rotary has funded a reading and literacy program in Perrysburg Schools.  Rotary's Learning Day by Day is named to honor the late Steve Day of our club and former district governor and his wife, Janet, a retired reading specialist at Frank Elementary.  Steve and Janet chaired the district's literacy program for several years and this important program is a way to honor that legacy and make significant impact on our young people.

 

Perrysburg Rotary will support an enhanced version of Learning Day by Day this year with a $10,000 grant focusing the program on helping youngsters meet the state's third grade reading guarantee with intensive tutoring at our elementary schools.  We are also expanding the program to provide a more holistic approach to student success.  And this is where we need your help.  Anyone who would like to explore how to volunteer after school as a Rotary tutor should contact Day by Day Committee Chairs Dwight Osterud (sdosterud@gmail.com) or Chris Vogel (christian.vogel@bex.net).  All you need is a passion for kids and a heart for service to show some care and concern for these young students.  The program will kick off in November.
